For the past two weeks, Supporter 2 Reporter has been in the North East training up new S2R Reporters.

Nine keen students, aspiring sports journalists, came along to the training at the Emirates Durham County Cricket Club to be trained in the skills needed to call themselves Reporters.

S2R has recruited young sports journalists all over the UK, and now the North East has its very own team reporting at local and national events.

They had the opportunity to test out their skills for real at the Newcastle Falcons v  Gloucester match last Friday.

"I'm in awe of what our Learners achieved in the time they had.  The venue really inspired them and the Staff motivated them to achieve fantastic results.  The culmination of all their hard work was the amazing experience in the Falcons Press Box.  A once in a life time experience that neither I nor they will forget.  Thank you S2R!" Mr Bennett, Teacher, Biddick Sports College, Durham.

"It was brilliant, I learned things that I can use again and again. The Falcons was awesome, it gave us a real insight to how journalists work. We had an amazing experience interviewing the players, they were so easy to talk to."  Year 10 Student, Biddick Sports College, Durham.

S2R on Radiowaves ia a great, safe way for young reporters to promote their work and themselves: www.radiowaves.co.uk/s2r
